Fairy Walnut Presents

I am so looking forward to slipping these sweet walnuts presents into the bottom of my girls' (and their cousins) stockings.

 

To make some yourself: place walnuts on a cookie sheet and bake at 200 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes. Let them cool down slightly and pry open with a butter knife.

 

Add some glitter for a festive feel.

 

Cut an oval shaped piece of felt and fill with the loveliest tiny thing you can find. Our girls will open their walnuts and find pretty fairy necklaces.

 

A little magical and ever so special.

Halloween Cards - Mummies

This week we made a gaggle of mummies to send as Halloween cards. 

They are super easy to make - quick, relatively mess free, and the project kept the girls engaged for a long time.

 

First Day of School - Pocket Hearts

This jar of hearts is for 14 excited yet nervous preschoolers. Each heart will be filled with love from a parent and slipped into a pocket. And in that pocket each little heart will be a gentle reminder of calm during the first day of a new school year.

I first made hearts for the girls' first day of school last year and then again for Valentines. Anytime the girls experience separation anxiety, I fill the heart with love and pop it into a pocket. This simple act comforts my girls so much that our teacher asked me to make a heart for each student.

To make a heart for your own excited yet nervous preschooler... cut out the desired shape, stuff with fiberfill and love, and sew together. (more detailed tutorial)
