The Sunday Times newspaper in South Africa created a back to school installment and my art carrying case was the highlighted craft. So fun to see our art tube make it all the way to South Africa!

My friend Jennifer
just bought a vintage Airstream and named her Athena.
Why did she name an airstream Athena? Athena was not only the goddess of wisdom, warfare and Divine intelligence, but she was also the Goddess of CRAFTS!
And guess what? Jennifer is going to remodel Athena, turn her into a travelling craft room and offer artful parties for crafty people.
I am envisioning vintage tea parties for little girls and spot of crafting.

Today I am playing with felt. Beautiful 100% wool felt in gorgous vibrant colors. I'm making a dozen little hearts for a customer and some for the girls.
Now these hearts are sewed with pretty embroidery silk and lightly stuffed.
On Valentine's morning, I like to hide little hearts in unexpected places and left the girls find little lovin's as they get ready for school.

Do you remember last July when Nola's name appeared on a banner in The Land of Nod catalog? We all rallied together to ask The Land of Nod to include Kira's name, and one of my very best friends even wrote a poem. Well, the January catalog is out and my sweet Kira was dancing for joy and singing a "I love Land of Nod" song when she saw her name in the catalog.
Kira says she wants the catalog page framed and hanging on her wall!
GIVEAWAY
Just in case your kiddos want their name on a banner or in pretty letters for their room, The Land of Nod has a lovely selection of banners and letters that you can buy. The Land of Nod has kindly agreed to give one of you lucky readers a $50 e-gift card. I am awfully sorry, but federal regulations require that the winner be a US resident.
All you have to do is visit The Land of Nod and leave a comment below. The winner will be announced next Monday.
The winner is Wendy! Congratulations

A little sneak peak at my new crown design...
I needle-felted the flower in a beautiful bright pink roving that made Nola twirl around the house.
And the strap is made of the most luxurious mossy green velvet ribbon that I could find.
I am auctioning it off and all the proceeds will benefit the families in Newtown, CT. More details next week...

This Christmas the girls received snow suites with a drawing of a cabin and two curly-haired girls playing in the snow.
Eight days later, we packed our bags and headed to the mountains. When we got to the cabin, the girls were even more surprised to see their grandparents.
After spending all morning sliding down the snow hill and all afternoon playing games with their grandparents, Nola and Kira declared that it was the best present ever.
Have you ever given a trip as a gift? We will definitely do it again.
We rented a cabin in Maggie Valley, NC - the area is absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful.
I look forward to 2013, I think it is going to be a good one.
