Sew some love this holiday season - Christmas tree ornaments that capture beautifully scrawled first written words.
On the material, draw around the inside of the hoop, cut the material way bigger than the hoop (at least 1.5 - 2" bigger). Have your little person write a simple word inside.
In a coordinating color embroidery silk, sew words with back stitch. I used 3 strands of silk.
Keep the back of the embroidery tidy. Once you have finished the embroidery, take it out of the hoop and iron the back of the material.
To frame the embroidery in the hoop, I followed this wonderful tutorial by Carina (but I did not use any glue). Carina's stitching is beautiful - I highly recommend you take a look.
