How to Make Chalk Board Gingerbread People
Create a new family tradition: The whole family will enjoy a new tradition of decorating their own chalkboard gingerbread person to hang on the tree. At the end of the holiday season, wipe these little folks clean and they are ready for the next year. How fun is that?
You'll Need:
Wooden gingerbread-shaped ornaments (available at craft stores)
Tinted chalk board paint (available at hardware stores)
Brush
Chalk
Glue
Twine or Ribbon
How To:
Paint wooden shapes – it may take up to 3 coats – and let dry. Glue twine to the back of the ornament. Decorate with chalk
Make an entire village of gingerbread people as they make wonderful stocking stuffers, tree ornaments and gift tags.

Sew some love this holiday season - Christmas tree ornaments that capture beautifully scrawled first written words.

Curly Birds on Bloesem Kids - Christmas Tree Photo Holders
Every year the girls and I like to make Christmas ornaments for ourselves and to send to our family spread across the ocean. This year we made Christmas tree photo holders. Each pretty tree is supported by a matchbox, which contains a little accordion book of pictures.
Materials:
*Colored card stock
*Decorations - felt balls, stickers, or glittery glue
*Matchbox
*Photos
*Glue
*Scissors
*Pen
Step 1: Place the matchbox on the cardstock and draw a triangle for the tree – make sure the tree is big enough to hide the matchbox! If you are making lots of trees, make a pattern to draw around.
Step 2: Cut out the triangles and decorate. We used colored felt balls, but you could use stickers or glittery glue.
Step 3: Cut a piece of pretty paper to cover the matchbox. Attach the box to the back of the tree.
Step 4: Cut a piece of card stock to the height of the matchbox and 6 times as long as the box. Score and fold the card to create an accordion book.
Step 5: Personalize the accordion book with pictures, drawings or fun information about the year. Attach to the inside of the matchbox.

Fairy Walnut Presents
I am so looking forward to slipping these sweet walnuts presents into the bottom of my girls' (and their cousins) stockings.
To make some yourself: place walnuts on a cookie sheet and bake at 200 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes. Let them cool down slightly and pry open with a butter knife.
Add some glitter for a festive feel.
Cut an oval shaped piece of felt and fill with the loveliest tiny thing you can find. Our girls will open their walnuts and find pretty fairy necklaces.
A little magical and ever so special.

Reusable Gift Bag
This year our family is making a concerted effort to simplify Christmas - to give small yet meaningful gifts and focus on quality time spent together.
For my part, I'm making each family member a simple gift wrapped in a reusable bag - I hope these bags will last for a few years and will become a familiar treat under the tree.
I made at least 12 bags in one night - I have to admit that I got a little carried away with the fun words and quickness of the project.
To make the bags, I bought pre-made muslin bags and used fusible fabric paper to iron felt words on to the bags.
I used a small stencil to draw the letters and stuck to 3 letters per bag. It was fun coming up with words which range from joy, luv, and hi to ???, wow, and zap!
