It was bedtime and Nola looked up at me with those big, brown eyes and said, "Mummy, I want to touch a star."
I made a star, sneaked into her room in the middle of the night, and tied it to her bed right above her head.
In the morning as I woke Nola up I whispered, "reach for your star." And in that dim room I saw and felt the wonder of childhood.

It is almost the end of my girls' fist year of Walorf preschool and as a teacher apreciation gift, I organized a book for each of the two teachers.
My firend Anri, who is a talented illustrator, designed the pages. We included the beautiful school pictures taken by Brydget. Both mums of kids in the class.
Each Daisy, as our class is named, was given two simply and sweetly designed pages with their name, photograph, and a few lines for a special memory.
On Monday mornings we often make it outside a little early to pick flowers to take to class. It started with violets and we have moved through daisies and heather as our 'weeds' have changed. So it was fitting for the girls to draw pictures of them giving flowers to their teachers.
Nola's pages are so colorful and giving. "I love her so much I overflow with love."
Kira very carfully drew her pictures and coloured in the leaves. Her bunch of flowers is so pretty.
I am amazed at how well the girls are able to communicate their feelings in such and honest and unguarded way.
Next week Anri and I will collect all the pages and make each teacher a book filled with smiling faces, happy drawings, beautiful memories and exubing love. Perfect!

For some reason, I thought of making a hot air balloon out of a helium balloon back in January. But it was way too cold and I had to wait until the spring to make it. I've been dreaming and waiting for the perfect day... And it was worth the wait. This has to be one of the girls' and my very favourite crafts. Check out Bloesem Kids for how to make one yourself.
Although this craft only lasts a day, it is well worth doing – it provides HOURS of fun and is really quite magical. By using a really big balloon and adding a weight (or toy) to the basket you are able to control the balloon so it rises ever so slowly and always comes back down. Even a slight wind will make this balloon take off on an adventure.
And here is poor Kira when her balloon went on said adventure...
But not to worry - the trick is to find a toy that is just heavy enough to always bring the balloon back down to earth. And Kira spent the rest of the afternoon playing with her hot air balloon!

Inspired by the girls' school bags, Michelle asked me to embroider her daughter's artwork to be framed.
Meet Miss Eyelashes, I love her full lips, high heels and fancy skirt...
And then there is Little Angel who is so simple, sweet, and innocent.
The two pictures compliment each other perfectly and remind me of the beauty and intense emotions of childhood.
I very much enjoyed working with Michelle and she was kind enough to write a lovely description of the project here.
