A Sprinkling of Love Throughout the Day

On Valentine's day I'll be spreading these hearts around the house – on pillows, in lunch bags, hidden in shoes and next to favorite toys. A sprinkling of love throughout the day!

 

And you can make some too...

You’ll need:

Felt

Embroidery floss

Fiberfill (stuffing)

Needle

Scissors

Cut out a heart shape (if you plan on making a lot draw a simple pattern out of paper and pin it to the felt).

Using 1 strand of embroidery floss sew the heart with blanket stitch or running stitch. Remember to leave an opening big enough to stuff.

Stuff heart – be careful not to overfill.

Sew up the opening.

Repeat and place in all your kids’ favorite places for little eyes to find.

Nola's New Scarf

It was just a simple project, but aren't those often the best? A pretty scarf to warm a pretty girl. I felted one of my old sweaters and hand-sewed it with love. And now my sweet Nola is all cozy.

Product Review: Glob Natural Paints

Glob Natural Paints are botanically crafted color packets made from fruits, vegetables, flowers and spices. Each of the 6 paints in the packet depicts a different color of fruit or herb – purple plum, basil green, tangerine, pomegranate, lemon verbena and berry blue. The sweet smell and color of food really adds to the painter's experience and involves so many senses. The paints, which are quickly mixed with a little water, are vibrant and beautiful.

A little taste of a project I've been working on for Babiekins Magazine. I'm dreaming of tulips, picnics and fluttering butterflies...

Sewing Projects for Preschoolers: # 3 Creating Softies from Patterns

Yesterday the girls designed patterns which we used to make softies. We used a combination of felt and fleece as neither one frays. I threaded embroidery floss in a large embroidery needles (the girls have graduated from darning needles!)

I am really noticing how well they can sew independently and I continue to be amazed by their attention span for detailed projects.

Kira made a Kira doll...

She asked me to take this picture as a comparison to the real Kira.

I think we all feel like this when we finish a sewing project.

 

Nola designed a beluga whale for her cousin's birthday.

As with her original concept, the whale is in water - I love that!

The beluga whales were one of Nola's favorites from our trip to the Georgia Aquarium last week.
