My husband, Eric, isn't often featured on my blog. But he plays an important behind-the-scenes role in my shenanigans. He edits all of my posts, cuts felt with a precision I will never have, he oohs and ahhs at the girls' and my crafts, and keeps me sane (and well-caffeinated.)
This man is my very best friend and is a gentle, playful, and loving daddy. Last week he spent the morning at pre-school and has even sewed a doll for our girls - isn't that cool? I love a man who can sew! He always puts us all before himself, and so for his 40th birthday, I wanted to plan a big party with all his favorite things...
Eric is a laid-back kind of guy, so we had a laid-back kind of party with a keg from a local micro-brewery and a chips and salsa bar.
Home-made sundaes catered by Eric's favourite ice-cream shop. Complete with customized M&M'S from drawings the girls' made of their daddy.
And perhaps my favourite part... a photo booth! It added a little silly to the day and the grown-ups had just as much fun as the kids.
A quiet place for little (and big) folks to hide
A big, beautiful, birthday cake with 40 sparkling candles. Carrot cake on top and German chocolate cake on bottom. And believe me, it tasted as good as it looked.
Happy 40th Birthday, I love you. x
Special thanks to Vanessa Li for making a perfectly beautiful and yummy cake. And to Holley Maher for designing the invitations, taking the photos, and helping me with all the crafty fun (really, you should check out this girl's design work and have her design your next invitation/header/poster/t-shirt/brochure/blog/life in print).
I loved this invitation by Oh So Beautiful Paper so much, I asked Holley to design an invitation just like it.
