This all started when the girls wanted to display their artwork at our local art museum. The girls asked and asked me to put their artwork in the museum and finally we e-mailed the curator and received a polite message saying no.
I e-mailed some blog friends and the girls became the first contributors to The Crafty Crow's 'Meet the Artist' series. (There is also a cool gallery project I hope to share soon). And Nola and Kira were really happy to see their work on-line, but I knew they wanted more...
So we signed up to make scarecrows to exhibit outside at our favorite botanical garden.
We made material balloons from this tutorial. (When I popped the balloon, the material imploded slightly, maybe coat the balloon in petroleum jelly before applying the material?)
The structure of the girly-crows is made out of PVC pipes - it was given to us by the botanical garden. We attached the balloons to Purple and Pink by drilling holes in the pipe (and by we, I mean Eric). When we set the girly-crows up, Pink's balloon was a bit top heavy, so I pushed the balloon through a little more - I hope it holds up!
